Overview
Since 2018, CUNY and SUNY have received a yearly $8 million in state funding towards the development of Open Educational Resources (OER). This has lead to the robust development of OER initiatives across CUNY, with specific programming tailored to each campus.
NY State OER Funds – CUNY Year One Report – The 2019 report provides an overview of the funding, resources, and impact for CUNY students.
OER in CUNY Academic Works – Open Educational Resources developed at CUNY have been added to the institutional repository, Academic Works.
List of CUNY OER Representatives – A list of OER coordinators across the CUNY campuses.
Accessibility for OER – A CUNY Resource Guide – A comprehensive guide for increasing the accessibility of Open Educational Resources.
Platforms and Development
CUNY Academic Commons – Developed at The Graduate Center, and designed to be “an online, academic social network for community members.”
OpenLab – An open platform developed at the New York City College of Technology (CityTech).
Manifold – Allows users to “publish dynamic digital texts with rich media support, powerful annotation tools, and community dialogue.”
Institutional Repository
CUNY Academic Works – Faculty are increasingly uploading their completed OER to CUNY Academic Works, for wider dissemination and use. The institutional repository may also be used as a location for scholarship (dissertations, theses, and other materials).
